Statsmaster is Purple Sport's system for making accessible a large database of historical sports statistics. When data is stored in the system – for instance, results archived by Scorekeeper – website visitors can interactively access that data in the style of a relational database: searching, sorting and comparing the data however they wish.
Visitors can select the stats they want to view using pull-down menus, and then sort that information in various ways by clicking on the heads of data columns. An extremely useful feature for visitors is the ability to make direct comparisons of stats between any two players or teams – simply using two pull-down menus to make their selections. Stats can also be viewed by time or event parameters – for example by season or year. Indeed, visitors are able to click on any hyperlinked heading or parameter on their screen to drill down further into the currently-displayed data.
Sports fans are intrinsically interested in team and player stats, but what they want to know at any one time is impossible to predict. Purple Sport Statsmaster leverages the power of the web to provide them the data they want, whenever they want it.
